Building Your Service Menu

How to add, edit, and remove the services your salon offers, with pricing, duration, category, and the staff who can perform them

Your service menu is what customers see when they book an appointment online — it's the list of treatments you offer, what they cost, how long they take, and (optionally) who on your team can perform them. You manage this list from the Services page in your salon admin dashboard.

Adding your very first service

If you haven't added any services yet, the Services page shows a "What services do you offer?" box right on the page — you don't need to click anything extra to open it. If you already have at least one service, skip to Adding another service below, which opens the same form in a pop-up window.

Tap one of the category tiles to get started: Hair, Makeup, Nails, Skin Care, Beard, Massage, Waxing, or Other. Each tile has an icon so it's easy to scan. Picking a category also fills in a suggested service name (for example, picking Hair suggests "Haircut") that you can change.

Type the service name — for example, "Classic Haircut" or "Balayage." This field is required.

Set the duration — how many minutes the service takes. Tap one of the quick options (15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes), or type a custom number of minutes. This matters: it controls how appointment slots are laid out on your booking calendar, so an inaccurate duration can lead to back-to-back bookings that run over.

Set the price and pick the currency. If you'd rather not show a fixed price (for example, for a consultation that's quoted case-by-case), leave the price field empty — customers will see "Pay as you go" instead. If you also leave duration unset, the booking calendar treats the service as 30 minutes by default.

Tap Description & staff assignment to open two optional fields: a short description customers see when booking (for example, "Shampoo, cut, and blow-dry"), and a grid of Assign Staff tiles where you tap each team member who can perform this service.

Tap Add Service → to save. The new service appears immediately in your list and is available for customers to book right away.

Assigning staff to a service is optional, not required. If you don't tap any names in Assign Staff, the service is open to every staff member who is active and available for booking — assigning specific people narrows who can be offered for that service, it doesn't gate whether the service is bookable at all.

Adding another service

Once you have at least one service, the page shows your list instead of the onboarding box, with an Add Service button at the bottom of the list. Tapping it opens the same category-tiles → name/duration/price → description & staff flow described above, in a pop-up window. Fill it in the same way and tap Add Service → to save.

Editing a service

  1. On the Services page, find the service in your list and tap Edit next to it.
  2. In the edit window you'll see every field in one place: Name, Description, Category (a dropdown this time, instead of tiles), Price, Currency, Duration (min), and the Assign Staff tiles.
  3. At the bottom there's an Active checkbox — see the callout below for what this does.
  4. Tap Save changes. Existing bookings for that service are not affected, but any future bookings will use the updated price, duration, and staff list.

Changing a service's duration doesn't reflow appointments that are already booked — it only affects new bookings going forward. If you significantly shorten or lengthen a service, double-check your calendar for any appointments that might now look tight.

Pausing a service without deleting it

If a service is seasonal or temporarily unavailable, you don't have to delete it. Edit the service and uncheck the Active box, then Save changes. An inactive service:

  • Shows an Inactive badge in your services list, so your team can still see it exists.
  • Disappears completely from the public booking page — customers can't select it.
  • Keeps all its settings (price, duration, staff assignments) so you can simply check Active again later to bring it back.

Removing a service

  1. Find the service you want to remove and tap the delete (trash) icon next to it.
  2. Confirm the removal in the pop-up that appears.

Once removed, the service is gone for good — unlike making it Inactive, this can't be undone, and the service no longer appears on your public booking page.

Prefer Inactive over deleting when you might bring a service back — it keeps your price, duration, and staff assignments ready to go, whereas deleting removes them permanently.

Tips for a clean service menu

  • Keep durations realistic. The time you set here is exactly what customers will see blocked off on the calendar — build in any cleanup or prep time your team needs.
  • Use categories consistently. Grouping similar services under the same category (Hair, Nails, etc.) makes your public booking page easier for customers to scan.
  • Only assign staff if you need to limit who performs a service. Leaving the Assign Staff tiles empty keeps a service open to your whole bookable team; use assignments when a service genuinely needs a particular skill (for example, only your colorists should be assigned to a balayage service).
